Mazatlán Maritime Terminal Ends 2024 with More than 20% Growth in Cargo Handling

Mazatlán Maritime Terminal (TMAZ) has closed 2024 with an impressive growth of over 20% in cargo handling, reinforcing its position as a key player in the logistics sector of the Mexican Pacific.

In the automotive sector, TMAZ has emerged as the second-largest vehicle operator in the region, handling more than 160,000 units this year. Mauricio Ortiz, the terminal’s general manager, highlighted that this growth was driven by the diversification of its client base, including importers from Asia, facilitated by the terminal’s extensive rail infrastructure.

Optimizing Operations with Rail Infrastructure

With over five kilometers of internal rail tracks, TMAZ can efficiently handle steel, containers, and vehicles with high productivity. The terminal has also invested in a specialized steel handling warehouse, covering 5,300 m2 and equipped with two traveling cranes. This infrastructure is crucial for meeting the growing demand for steel handling, with projections of a 5% annual increase in this cargo type.

Commitment to Growth in 2025

Looking ahead to 2025, TMAZ plans to continue its upward trajectory. The terminal aims for a more than 5% increase in vehicle handling, alongside a 10% rise in steel cargo. Additionally, TMAZ is committed to strengthening its expertise in handling loose cargo, diversifying its services and further optimizing its operations.

These efforts place TMAZ in an excellent position to remain a major player in international trade and logistics, facing the opportunities and challenges of 2025.

Opportunities and Future Prospects

TMAZ is preparing for the challenges ahead, as it continues to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving logistics sector. With an eye on sustainable growth and operational efficiency, the terminal is poised to take full advantage of its capabilities and infrastructure in the coming year.

Mazatlán Maritime Terminal’s impressive growth in 2024 solidifies its role as a leader in cargo handling and logistics in the Mexican Pacific, with plans for further expansion in 2025.
