Increase in AICM Tariffs for 2025
Starting January 1, 2025, the Airport Use Fee (TUA) at Mexico City International Airport (AICM) will increase by 2.5%. With this adjustment, domestic flight fees will be set at $29.70 (598 MXN), while international flights will cost $56.39 (1,135 MXN).
Impact on Airfare Costs
This increase, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, will impact airfare costs for passengers flying from Mexico’s most important airport. The announcement came just one day after President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that no increase was planned.
AICM: One of the Most Expensive Airports in Latin America
AICM is one of the most expensive airports in Latin America, with fees that can account for up to 80% of a ticket’s total price, depending on the airline. In 2024, the TUA increased by 3.2%, and in previous years, significant hikes have drawn criticism from the aviation sector.
Operational Restrictions and Industry Response
The airport, which handles over 48 million passengers annually, has implemented operational restrictions to reduce congestion. Despite these limitations, the aviation sector has requested an increase in slots (takeoff and landing time allocations), arguing that AICM now has the capacity to handle more flights.
