Progreso, Yucat\u00e1n – Pier Six at the Specialized Container Terminal of the Progreso High Port has collapsed, halting operations and creating a crisis in maritime transport. Major shipping lines, such as Maersk Line, have diverted their vessels to the port of Veracruz due to structural damage at the pier, which was built 20 years ago.<\/p>\n\n

Impact of the Pier Six Collapse<\/h3>\n

The collapse, which occurred last week, prevents ships ranging from 170 to 200 meters in length from docking to load and unload. Five vessels bound for Progreso have already been redirected to Veracruz, unloading goods such as perishables and marble. This has increased transportation costs, as containers must be transported by road to Yucat\u00e1n and Quintana Roo.<\/p>\n\n

Port Administration Measures<\/h3>\n

The Administration of the National Port System (Asipona) of Progreso has restricted access to Pier Six to carry out repairs, which could take between two and six months, possibly extending until December. Loading and unloading operations at the port have been significantly reduced, affecting import and export logistics.<\/p>\n\n
