MEXICO REQUIRES A GENERAL VEHICLE CONTROL LAW

According to Guillermo Rosales, executive president of the Mexican Association of Automobile Distributors (AMDA), in order to contribute to the implementation of the General Law of Mobility and Road Safety (LGMSV), in addition to obtaining reliable data on the fleet circulating in the country and contributing to the reduction of criminal acts, it is necessary to dust off the General Law of Vehicle Control.

Due to the deficiency, inconsistency and unreliable information in the Public Vehicle Registry (Repuve) -which is a necessary tool for decision making and execution of plans within the framework of the LGMSV-, it is urgent that the authorities of the three levels of government, as well as various governmental agencies, work together under a commitment to solve the problem.

For Rosales, from the very conception and implementation of the Repuve, there have been failures that have been accumulating and adding up to what today is a complete disorganization of the information.

"It is a chaos, disorder and obsolescence that generates a fertile niche for criminality, theft and substitution of vehicles, and deprives us of elements to be able to have greater control and security in roadways on highways and cities," he said.
