Port of Manzanillo Sees Cargo Growth Despite Tariff Uncertainty

Despite ongoing concerns over U.S. tariffs, the Port of Manzanillo has reported steady growth in cargo operations. During the first quarter of the year, the port registered a 4% average increase in container and general cargo movement, demonstrating resilience amid shifting international trade conditions.
Stable Steel Imports and Dynamic Bulk Movement
The TAP terminal confirmed that steel operations remain stable, with no significant fluctuations observed. Notably, 80% of the steel imported through the port comes from Japan and the remaining 20% from China, highlighting the port’s strategic international trade relationships.

Manzanillo’s Role Strengthened by Mineral Bulk Growth
The port also reported a 6.5% increase in mineral bulk movement during Q1, further reinforcing its position as one of Mexico’s most dynamic and essential trade hubs. The continued growth across multiple cargo categories underscores Manzanillo’s importance in supporting regional and international supply chains.
